Impressions romantiques/Michel Tabachnik
From the flamboyant playfulness of Mozart to the climax of old-fashioned romanticism of Anton Bruckner: romance in all its forms. Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos was intended as a Spielerei, and gives the soloists every opportunity to shine. After the fancifulness of Mozart comes the depth of Bruckner.
He gave his Fourth Symphony the name 'The Romantic' - a romanticism that harks back more to the Middle Ages, as in the world of Wagner, than to the romantic love which we now idolize. But romanticism it is!
